There’s nothing more frustrating than not being able to see what’s right in front of you. As we age, we gradually lose the ability to see close up, which is called presbyopia. But you don’t need to be middle-aged to need reading glasses. If your eyes are under powered or farsighted, you could need reading glasses at a much younger age, even as a child.

After hearing my patients complain for years about their love/hate relationship with glasses, not being able to find them when they need them, having ten pairs of readers around the house, I designed NearSight to help you see on and off your phone conveniently, and easily.

I strongly believe that you can do anything as long as you put your mind and heart into it. I have to work twice as hard as a female founder to build my new company, but have become stronger and smarter along the way. I spent an inordinate amount of time with my team figuring out how we were going to design, and execute the project, but we are getting closer every day.

This year I was invited to participate in a new TV show by @cbs called @californiabydesigntv. I competed with NearSight against many great inventions by many great inventors from all over California including innovative companies such as @uber@thermadorhome, and @nasajpl. Thank you for everyone who voted for me. We came in third place for the People’s Choice Award against all odds! Earlier my partner @mwallrapp and I won first place in a start-up competition judged by seasoned investors, entrepreneurs and founders. We are grateful for all the support we are getting validating NearSight.

This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for me, NearSight, and the millions of people that I want to help!

The take home message is to work hard, believe in yourself, look for ways to make the world a better place, and above all, follow your dreams!
